Tottenham’s tricky run home

Spurs

TOTTENHAM were left to rue what might have been after letting slip a golden opportunity to give their title hopes a massive boost – and all but end those of Arsenal – after only managing a 2-2 draw against the 10-man Gunners at White Hart Lane.

After Toby Alderweireld and Harry Kane had struck twice in as many minutes, just moments after the visitors’ Francis Coquelin had stupidly got himself sent off, there only looked one winner.

Arsenal – on the back of three straight defeats in all competitions – were rattled. They were at sixes and sevens and there for the taking. A third Spurs goal at this stage and there would have been no way back for Arsene Wenger’s men.

Little wonder then that Kane and his team-mates were somewhat downbeat after a pulsating match.

“We’re very disappointed,” Kane said. “We had them where we wanted them, 2-1 up, down to 10 men and we had to finish the game off.

“We needed to score the third or fourth and if we had, it would be a very different changing room right now. That’s football and we have to deal with it.”

“We’re leaving disappointed but look, we have to move on, we played well again and there is a long way to go. We’ll stay positive and keep doing what we’re doing.”

The positive for Tottenham and their supporters is that they remain three points and significant goal difference ahead of third-placed Arsenal.

But on the downside, Mauricio Pochettino’s side have a potentially tricky run home, including away games against Liverpool and Chelsea and a home clash with Manchester United.

What do Tottenham fans think, will these two dropped points at the hands of your most bitter rival come back to haunt you at the end of the season?

Tottenham get the perfect way to bounce back in the league as they face a very out-of-sorts Aston Villa at Villa Park next Sunday.

They are as short as 1/2 with Bet365 which will probably look like a big price come final whistle.
