Latest: Don’t look too far for next Chelsea Manager

Guus

MASSIMILIANO ALLEGRI is the latest high-profile name to be linked with the soon-to-be vacant managerial job at Chelsea, the Italian currently at 4/7 to be in charge at Stamford Bridge for the start of next season.

Outgoing Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is another in the running, as is Atletico Madrid supremo Diego Simeone.

But what is wrong with the man currently doing the job – and a very fine one too – in temporary charge of the Blues, Guus Hiddink?

The Dutchman may be significantly older than most of the other serious contenders at 69 but since his arrival following Jose Mourinho’s sacking, Chelsea have gone 12 games unbeaten, including claiming the prize scalp of title-chasing Arsenal at the Emirates.

Having enjoyed a successful previous stint as caretaker boss at The Bridge back in 2009 – during which he only lost once – Hiddink has previous experience of the Premier League, he is tactically sound and has a great rapport with his players.

Liverpool legend Didi Hamann certainly thinks the Blues should look no further than the present incumbent.

Hamann told talkSport: “If you feel there’s nobody out there who really fits the bill, then why not (have Hiddink stay)?”

“At the moment Chelsea seem to be in a good place, performances and results have picked up, and Stamford Bridge seems to be a better place now Mourinho has gone.”

What do the Blue Brigade feel about appointing Hiddink on a full-time basis? Or is it worth going out on something of a limb and bringing in a big name that is untried in the Premier League?

No! He does not fit into a long-term plan. This where Chelsea made a suicidal mistake by sacking Jose. Chelsea would have been higher in the table by now and would have gone on to dominate epl over the next ten years under Jose. Chelsea was turning round when Jose was sacked as evinced by the last 20 min of Leicester match.

Possibly a contender in a field of contenders who are all weaker than the man who was dismissed. I still think we need to weed out and sell all those who undermined Jose, including Emenalo, and then bring the great man back.
