This one is interesting – and potentially ludicrous.
Manchester City centre-back Eliaquim Mangala has been linked with a move abroad.
And after largely patchy form for Manchester City since his arrival at the club, that’s not beyond the realms of credibility. But the supposed suitor is very questionable. Sky Sports passes this on from Belgium:
Manchester City defender Eliquim Mangala is a transfer target of Standard Liege, according to Belgian publication Voetbal Nieuws.
Apparently ex-Mancester City star Daniel van Buyten is now head coach of the club and wants Mangala.
We wonder how the European minnow plans to pay for a player who cost in excess of £30m just 18 months ago?
The Frenchman has had a bit of a shocker since he joined the club. He was supposed to be the powerful long-term heir to Vincent Kompany.
But a bad start to his career caused concerns that he was a little too clumsy for the very top level.
He played 31 times last season and has so far turned on 20 occasions for an injury-hit Manchester City defence in this campaign.
And while we think that he can still become an important team member for City, he still has it all to prove.
But the only way we can see him going to Liege is on loan and, with City struggling at the back for most of the season, this seems unlikely too.
Manchester City fans: Does Eliaquim have a long-term future at the club?
