Chelsea have been keeping the mongers of rumour busy this month with swathes of speculation about the need for reinforcements in January.
With them sitting in a scarcely credible 14th place in the league right now they are something of an easy target for the transfer rumour mills.
And today Chelsea have been linked with a decent defender who plies his trade in Spain.
The London Evening Standard states:
it is being claimed this evening that Chelsea and Arsenal could join the race for Real Madrid defender Nacho, who may leave the Santiago Bernabeu this month following his failure to cement his place in the Los Blancos first team.
The report comes from The Sun who claim that Chelsea are among a clutch of clubs who could make a move for the Spanish international.
Nacho has only played twice for Spain and hasn’t exactly cemented his place in the Real Madrid team since his debut for the seniors in 2011. But he came from the Real Madrid youth ranks and has been the sort of able and dependable utility man that every top team needs. He was part of the Real Madrid squad that won The Champions League in 2014 and has also won the Copa del Rey with Los Blancos.
He doesn’t have lightning pace or possess real aerial presence. Instead he’s a decent all-rounder and a player who wouldn’t let Chelsea down.
And he is said to be a ‘crisp’ passer of the ball. No that’s far too cheesy.
