Newcastle have broadened their striker search to La Liga and are interested in the brilliant young Barcelona forward, Sandro Ramirez, according to latest reports.
The London Evening Standard picked up on this one because Tottenham are also said to be interested in the young natural. They write:
Newcastle are tracking Barcelona striker Sandro Ramirez and are set to rival Spurs for the 20-year-old’s signature, according to the Times.
The 20-year-old joined Barcelona from Las Palmas in 209 before making his way through the youth ranks and Barcelona B team with 15 goals in 61 games.
He played 12 games (3 goals) in the first team in 2014/15 as the Nou Camp outfit waited for new signing Luis Suarez’ ban to end.
And this season he has made 19 appearances and hit 3 goals. But most of those minutes have been off the bench and the ambitious young man may fancy a move in an attempt to secure regular football.
There is always a chance of a loan or even a buy-back option for Barcelona in any permanent move.
But it’s difficult to imagine a player of his quality not making a positive impression at Newcastle.
He needs experience now and, although he wouldn’t walk straight into the first team at Newcastle, Sandro would surely get more opportunities in The North East than at a club which, rather unfairly, has the combined talents of Suarez, Neymar and Messi at its disposal.
