Rumours abound

This one has really set the cat amongst the pigeons.

Pep Guardiola’s stock has never been higher and every elite club in English football has seemingly been showing him a bit too much leg since he announced his intention to manage in The Premier League as of next season.

And The BBC deems it necessary to publish this in the latest news cycle:

Manchester United deny they met Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola to discuss the possibility of him replacing current boss Louis van Gaal.

France Football says the meeting took place last week in Paris, but United insist the story is not true.

No smoke without fire and all that?

Pep has seemed destined for Manchester City but perhaps this suggests that it is not yet a done deal.

But with City already employing a couple of Pep’s previous associates from Barcelona you have to imagine that they are still in pole position for his signature.

We think that this could end up being another absolute howler from Manchester United. They have the opportunity to bring Jose Mourinho in and, for our money, he’s a much surer bet than Pep, who hasn’t yet managed in England.

Furthermore Jose is cast from a similar mould as Manchester United ledge Sir Alex and we saw how well the players responded to the Scot.

It’s still got to be Mourinho for us. But anyone who agrees must be concerned that Manchester United could bungle the whole sitation and end up with Louis van Gaal walking round in his boxers and a pot on his head next season screaming ‘I’m the best‘ to anyone who will listen.
