After something of a roller-coaster season Chelsea’s Serbian international defender Branislav Ivanovic appears to have been given the thumbs up by new head coach Guus Hiddink.
Because The Express reports that Chelsea are set to agree a one year extension to the current contract of the player, which is set to expire in the summer.
They say:
BRANISLAV IVANOVIC appears to have agreed a new one-year deal at Chelsea.
It is believed to match his current wage of £120,000-a-week and has the option of a further year.
The 31-year-old has played 83 times for his country and scored 10 goals.
At club level he has represented Chelsea on 338 occasions since he signed for the club in 2007. If he does sign the new deal he will have managed a whole decade of success at the club by the end of his next contract.
Despite his recent wobble, he has been a fantastic player for Chelsea and surely would be a candidate for the best XI in Premier League history. He’s got calfs that are bigger than most waists, but a really good football brain to go with the power.
Traditionally a centre back, the Chelsea man seamlessly moved over to the right and has made the full back spot his own for the last couple of years.
