Chelsea have been linked with many a striker in January. This could simply be hollow speculation as the media is well aware of the frailties in the front line at Stamford Bridge.
But, perhaps, Guus Hiddink wants more than one?
We shall find out soon enough but reports today suggest that Chelsea are to hold talks with the agent of Ezequiel Lavezzi.
Sky Sports reports:
Ezequiel Lavezzi’s agent, Alejandro Mazzoni, is due in London today to meet with officials from Chelsea, according to Sky in Italy.
The report states that the player is fully expected to leave the French club, PSG, this month amid reported interest from Italy as well.
With Edinson Cavani unsettled at PSG the landscape may yet change again this month but Lavezzi would be a lovely player for the club to sign.
The adaptable 30-year-old is as much a creator as he is a scorer – he makes teams tick and creates opportunities for others with his wonderful technique and constant desire to speed things up with his ball playing ability.
He regularly plays out on the wing but can also do an excellent job in the hole at number 10 and, with no Chelsea player really grabbing that position by the throat so far this season, he may well end up there if he does arrive at The Bridge.
The Argentine international was in outstanding form for his country in Brazil 2014 and has won 48 caps in total. He has also been deemed a success at PSG and his former club Napoli. But, with competition from the likes of Zlatan, Di Maria and Cavani, he may well be deemed surplus to requirements in Paris.
Let’s see some of his best moments.
