We would be more surprised if Chelsea start February without signing another forward.
With back-up strikers Radamel Falcao and Loic Remy unsettled and Diego Costa not looking particularly happy, Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink will surely sign another forward to help them climb the league.
The big news story comes from The Daily Star who say that Shaktar Donetsk don’t want to sell Alex Teixeira in January. If true, this will come as a big blow to fans of the club:
The free-scoring Brazil midfielder is keen on a move to Stamford Bridge.
But the Shakhtar Donetsk’s billionaire president Rinat Akhmetov is refusing to sell his star player in the January transfer window.
Teixeira is a wonderful player who could fit into several positions in the Chelsea attack and would certainly add to their firepower. He seems keen on a move and the biggest stumbling block could, in reality, now be price.
Chelsea are desperate to add players and Shaktar are surely aware of this. They won’t be in any hurry to part with their prized asset and certainly not unless they get a top price for him. But he’d be an excellent addition to the squad.
In other news Chelsea are said to be keen on Watford hotshot Odion Ighalo. The Daily Mirror writes:
Chelsea join transfer chase for Watford’s Odion Ighalo as summer striker shake-up looms
Any move would have to wait until the summer but he certainly looks like a handful for Watford.
Let’s have a look at him in action.
