Even the most prophetic amongst us would struggle to predict who Manchester United will sign, if anyone, this winter.
But the latest rumours have moved the goal posts again in terms of striker targets.
The Sun reports that Manchester United are keen on a prolific striker who has been hitting the headlines of late with his goalscoring feats.
They say:
Manchester United transfer news: LVG heads queue for hotshot Islam Slimani
The Sporting Lisbon centre forward signed for the Portuguese side in 2013 and has hit the net 42 times in just 90 games for the club.
He has also played with honours for Algeria at international level with 41 caps and 20 goals to show for his efforts.
He looks to us as if he would have a better chance than most of succeeding in the cut and thrust of The Premier League if he did join Manchester United.
The 27-year-old stands at 6ft 1in and is a powerful athlete. He’s also a quick player and one who has lovely movement and decent technique.
He could certainly keep many a seasoned Premier League centre back busy.
Manchester United have been anything but prolific in front of goal this season with only 27 goals scored in the league in 21 games. They will surely add to their squad in January and, while Slimani may not be the high-profile star that many a Manchester United fan would like the club to sign, we think that he could be a real success at Old Trafford.
Let’s see him in action.
