Most of the speculation pertaining to Chelsea in this transfer window relates to the signing of forwards and yet another one has been added to the hat this afternoon as The London Evening Standard quotes the agent of PSG star Ezequiel Lavezzi as saying:
“Inter are certainly showing the greatest interest in the player, but there are also many other clubs in Europe keen on him, including Chelsea and Barcelona,” Moggi told Sport Mediaset.
“We are talking to Chelsea.
The 30 year old striker has found games harder to come by in the first team this season with PSG using Edinson Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic as first choice forwards. The French club have an embarrassment of attacking riches with Angel di Maria and Lucas Moura also fighting for first team places.
Chelsea, on the other hand, can’t boast the same, A-list cast of strikers and it would be more of a surprise to many if they ended January without another one amongst their number.
Radamel Falcao has no set return date from injury and Loic Remy has also been a regular patient in the Chelsea treatment room.
Lavezzi isn’t a prolific scorer but is a wonderfully composed player who causes all sorts of problems in that number 10 position and up top.
He’s played 48 times for Argentina, scoring 7 goals and 125 in 475 appearances at club level for PSG, Napoli, San Lorenzo and Estudiantes.
Let’s see him in action.
Chelsea fans: A good solution?
