Manchester United have reportedly turned their attention to the signing of 22-year-old Angel Gomes, having been rebuffed by Diego Simeone in their attempts to sign Atletico Midfielder Saul Niguez this month.
The Independent states:
United have reportedly turned their attention to Valencia’s Andre Gomez as their pursuit of Atletico Madrid ace Saul Niguez falters.
Well he is very highly-rated in Portugal and already has 4 caps for his country since making his debut against Albania on 7th September 2014.
The 6ft 2in midfielder started his career in Porto as a youth but move to Benfica in 2011. He played 41 times for the first team and scored 4 goals which was enough to draw the attention of La logo big boys Valencia.
He first went to Spain on a successful, year-long loan before making the move permanent at the start of this season.
He has played 8 times for Gary Neville’s Valencia this season and scored a solitary goal.
He’s quick, inventive and a great passer of the ball as well as possessing a decent strike. But whether he would get into the first team straight away or provide an instant solution to Manchester United’s creative issues is highly debatable. More likely, this will be viewed as a longer-term project for the club, if he does sign.
Let’s see the young star in action.
