Arsenal

One of the ‘most active’ windows ever? What does the Arsenal man know?

What a guy

Quite apart from the football, if every manager had Arsene Wenger’s human values, the soccer world would most certainly be a better place.

He doesn’t like to speculate about the players of other clubs and won’t unsettle other teams with hyperbole during transfer windows.

But he did give a rather tantalising interview in his press conference ahead of the Liverpool game this week.

Asked about his own transfer activity, the Arsenal manager spoke about Mohamed Elneny and that one is surely all but in the bag:

“I expect Mohamed yes, we are positive that this week it can happen,”

“The situation should be sorted out.

The delay appears to be work permit related.

And, questioned about other potential business, he said:

“I believe many clubs will be active,”

“It could be one of the most active windows ever.”

This would suggest to us that he has made many enquiries about player availability and that he also been given some inside information, during those conversations, about which other teams are interested.

With British big boys Manchester United, Chelsea and even Manchester City suffering anomalous results for much of the season, we could be about to see a deluge of transfer activity as clubs play catch up with Arsenal.

And Arsenal themselves will surely be on the look out for more striking options, despite the difficulty in prising top quality away from other clubs mid-campaign.
