Newcastle linked with excellent double signing

Berahino far better than some might think

Spine strengthening

Now here is story to warm up the Newcastle fans on a brisk Monday morning.

Still in the relegation zone after 20 games Newcastle have improved of late and face a massive game against Manchester United on Tuesday.

Regardless of the result, you would imagine that Newcastle will attempt to make signings in this window in order to help preserve their Premier League status and they have been linked with two excellent players in the latest news cycle.

The Daily Mail reports that Newcastle will bid for a brilliant young English striker:

Newcastle’s £18million club record summer bid for West Brom striker Saido Berahino remains on the table

Berahino bagged 20 goals for his club last season and has scored a goal a game for the England U21 side. But he has clearly been unsettled over the last year and needs a move. Tottenham may also be interested in the player so any deal may come down to money and how much The Toon are willing to pay.

Meanwhile the club has also been linked with a move for a creative central midfielder by Sky Sports:

Newcastle are ‘very interested’ in signing Swansea’s Jonjo Shelvey

Shelvey’s club Swansea have also struggled this season and the player may be attracted by a grand stage at Newcastle. He’s a plucky and skilful player and, still only 23, he’s played 6 times for England.

He’s also seen a success at Swansea where he moved to from Liverpool in 2013 and has hit 9 goals in 77 games for the club. But he is more renowned for his passing than for being prolific in front of goal – although he definitely has an eye for the spectacular with lang range strikes another forte.

Let’s take a look at Shelvey in action.
