Availability is a key term in the January window.
Many top players are playing for elite clubs who are heavily involved with major competitions at home and abroad.
All this makes it that much harder to get deals over the line.
So the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham may have to decide if they want to make short-term signings in some departments – players who can offer a quick fix even if they aren’t at the top of the longer term wishlist.
One such player is Lokomotiv Moscow sticker Oumar Niasse.
The Guardian reported this week that Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea have all taken a close look a the player and that he is likely to move England in January:
Oumar Niasse, the in-form Lokomotiv Moscow striker, is set for a £15m January move to the Premier League, with a host of clubs monitoring his situation.
Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have scouted him extensively over the first half of the season and each of them are looking to strengthen up front this month.
The 25 year old Senegal international (4 caps since his debut in 2014) has hit 11 goals in just 17 games this season and certainly looks as if he has the physique and pace to trouble Premier League defenders.
Tottenham fans may feel that they would be unlikely to sign a player who is also being courted by Chelsea and Manchester United.
But we think that the big two may have other targets who they will try to snare first.
IF Tottenham show the desire to sign Niasse then he could prove to be the perfect addition to the forward line and offer a conventional alternative to Harry Kane.
Let’s see him in action.
Tottenham fans: does he boil your potatoes?
