The pre-megabucks era must feel like a bad dream to Manchester City fans. And how often do you guys wince at the idea that Mansour bin Zayed bin Sultan bin Zayed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan (Sheikh Mansour to you and me) could have just as easily chosen another club on which to bestow a large chunk of his fortune?
It’s all San Pellegrino under the diamond encrusted bridge now anyway.
And, despite having a team that should be miles ahead of the field already, Manchester City could be about to take their football power to another level.
Because various reports, over the last day, have suggested that City may acquire two of the biggest names in football this summer.
Sky Sports Germany reports:
Pep Guardiola will join Manchester City in the summer
The man himself stated on Tuesday that he hasn’t yet chosen a club but that he will manage in the Premier League next.
But he is being heavily tipped to land at Manchester City next and he could bring God with him. The Express reports:
PEP GUARDIOLA is heading to Manchester City – and is hoping to tempt Lionel Messi to join him.
We have never seen a player as good as Messi. We never believed that anyone would better Maradona until his fellow countryman came along. And, as well as the arguably even better feet, the wonderful thing about Messi is that he’s no Prima Donna – he loves to stay on his feet, doesn’t feign injury and doesn’t bang on about how good he is – the football does the talking.
And, actually, we could see him fancying a new challenge too.
So Pep and Lionel to Manchester City may be closer to reality than many assume.
