This is a very interesting Chelsea rumour – should it house substance.
It has been widely assumed that Manchester United would be the eventual recipients of the abundant talent possessed by 23 year old Southampton forward Sadio Mane.
And his recent tardiness has seen this nailed-on starter benched in The Saints’ last game, in a week that left Ronald Koeman fuming. This only strengthened rumours of a move.
But respected football journalist, John Cross of The Mirror, states:
Chelsea and Bayern Munich join Manchester United in transfer chase of Southampton’s Sadio Mane
Chelsea have been struggling somewhat at No.10 of late. They aren’t short of playmakers. But none of Oscar, Willian, Cesc Fabregas or Kenedy have really nailed down their position in the hole with any regularity.
Mane can of course play there as well as on the wing. And that adaptability is yet another enticing element of the player which may well see Chelsea bid this month.
Southampton seem adamant that Mane will stay at the club but player power may out here.
