Quite apart the managerial drama going on at Chelsea right now it appears to us that there is a lack of drive from the midfield.
Cesc Fabregas started his Chelsea career brilliantly but has dropped off the pace and was never a driving dynamo of a player, even at his best.
Nemanja Matic and Ramires are excellent players and score the odd goal but neither are what you would call box to box, goalscoring midfielders.
Which is possibly why reports have surfaced about Chelsea moving for the brilliant Real Madrid creator Isco. British edit outlet, The Independent has reported that Chelsea and Manchester City are now keen on a player who may felt might turn up at Arsenal:
Arsenal could face a battle with Chelsea and Manchester City for Real Madrid midfielder Isco in the summer as he grows increasingly frustrated with the lack of playing time he is receiving under Rafa Benitez, according to reports.
A club as big as Real Madrid is always going to have elite level players who can’t get a game. And Isco is an elite level player who would improve Chelsea and Manchester City.
He can play on the wing, at number 10 or in the attacking midfield and he has a broad skill set. He’s a lovely dribbler and drives at the heart of the opponent. He scores goals and generally makes things happen.
For all these reasons we can’t see Real Madrid letting him go.
But, if they do, he may well end up at Chelsea.
Let’s see the 23 year old in action.
