This one looks pretty positive for Chelsea.
Because, if they can beat off the competition and get this deal over the line, they will have a superb addition to the squad.
Indeed Alex Teixeira himself as admitted that, from what he understands, Chelsea are in talks to sign him from Shaktar Dontesk.
The Sun quotes him as saying:
“From what I have seen and what my manager said, Chelsea, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain have made proposals.
“But Chelsea and Juventus are deeper in negotiations. They are all big clubs. Wherever I go, I’ll be happy.”
The 25 year old is the archetypal ‘goalscoring midfielder’.
He’s been prolific at Shaktar where he has scored 85 goals in 218 games, including 22 in just 21 this season. It’s a remarkable goalscoring record which extends to international level where he has 3 goals in 7 games for Brazil U20s. He is yet to make his debut for the seniors but that surely won’t be too far away on this form.
And he has been told good things about The Premier League:
“I have spoken to many people who play in the Premier League because I think it’s the best league in the world.
“It’s the most competitive and I want this challenge in my career.
“I’m glad to have received the proposal of Chelsea is a big club in Europe but my manager is dealing with that.”
He did also state that he thinks the move would be more likely in the summer.
“For January, I believe it is very difficult because it is in the middle of the championship.”
The 5ft 8in attacking midfielder is surely being lined up to play at number 10 with the other playmakers, Oscar and Kenedy, yet to find their feet in the hole this season.
Let’s take a look at Teixeira in action.
