Dropped: Chelsea star has swapped one bench for another

Bad luck

He moved to Chelsea amidst a deluge of hype about Manchester United missing the boat on a big star.

But a few months into the season ex-Barca man Pedro has almost disappeared into the shadows.

And with Willian playing out of his skin right now, we wonder whether the Spain international has simply swapped one bench for another.

Pedro can play in the middle or on the left. But Chelsea have Hazard left and a bevy of potentially top number 10s in Oscar, Kenedy and Cesc. With Willian the obvious solution on the right at this point the Spaniard must be concerned about his prospects.

No manager is going to promise game time at an elite level club. But Pedro would have expected to start most games for Chelsea – that is, after all, why he left his beloved Barcelona.

It’s a challenge for Pedro and the whole squad will be used over the space of a long season.

But this celebrated star will want to be central to Chelsea’s biggest fixtures. And, right now, he looks little more than a squad player who would be used in the early stages of The FA Cup, when the big hitters need a rest.

Let’s see his highlights for Chelsea so far.
