Sir Alex Ferguson ‘99%’ sure of Ronaldo’s eventual return to Manchester United according to club legend

In a very revealing interview with Manchester United legend Patrice Evra, Radio 5 have thrown coals on the fires of speculation that Cristiano Ronaldo could return to the club.

Evra, who represented Manchester United with honours through the most successful period in the club’s history, says that Sir Alex was always sure that Ronnie would return. Evra quoted Fergie as saying:

‘I am 99% that Cristiano will return.’

And in a lovely postscript Evra said that the Portuguese superstar was extremely apprehensive about coming back to face Manchester United when Real Madrid drew the Old Trafford outfit out of the hat in The Champions League in 2013.

“Cristiano said to me, ‘All night I couldn’t sleep. I even had a nosebleed because I had too much emotion.’”

Cristiano’s time at Manchester United overlapped with his father’s death and this issue as one of the reasons for the closeness between the pair. Fergie was something of a father figure and mentor to the young star and it’s difficult imagine CR7 having done quite so well in his career without the guiding tutelage of the Scot.

With fevered speculation about a return to Manchester United, and Real Madrid in the doldrums, perhaps this mega move will happen after all.

Let’s see Ronnie’s best moments at Manchester United.
