The job of defeating a plucky Watford side on their own patch got a lot harder with the news from Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, in his Friday morning press conference, that Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial are unlikely to face The Hornets this weekend.
Rooney fell ill after the England game against France and Martial’s foot is bruised.
Those two are clearly a massive loss to Manchester United, who are already struggling for goals so far this term.
Without those two Manchester United are likely to call on James Wilson who, at 19, is raw but has huge potential.
His pace would trouble many a defence and he’ll be keen to show what he can do with a rare start.
We would also love to see Memphis start. He needs confidence and that can only come with game time.
In fact, we have a sneaking suspicion that he can be the match winner should he be selected.
With Michael Carrick and Antonio Valencia also crocked, here is our strongest XI for a game which is crucial to Manchester United’s title chances.
