If I had 1 GBP for every time Wesley Sneijder has been linked to a move to The Premier League i’d probably be waking up on some tropical beach right now.
But, either due to a quiet news day or a genuine interest in the player, Chelsea are said to be ready to pay the release clause for the Galatasaray star.
Turkish media outlet Fanatik reports that the 31 year old will move to Stamford Bridge as Jose Mourinho looks to save his season.
And these two could once again be a match made in heaven.
The last time they were united Inter won a historic treble and Sneijder pulled the strings from his playmaker role in the attacking midfield.
Still only 31 we would love to see what the Dutchman could offer The Premier League.
He is still fit as a fiddle and still scores goals. He’s got 38 of them in just 118 games for the Turkish club and has also hit 29 in 120 caps for Holland. In total he has 5 domestic titles in 4 different countries and a Champions League winners medal with Jose at Inter.
This is a player of superb technique who can play in various positions for Chelsea. But perhaps he will be asked to take the number ten role that neither Cesc or Oscar have really made their own this season.
We definitely wouldn’t discount this sort of move by Chelsea as Sneijder would be a superb quick fix and someone who could walk straight into the team.
Let’s see him in action.
Chelsea fans: Could he still do a big job for the club at 31?
