Chelsea may be in the doldrums right now but don’t expect a club this ambitious, with a manager this driven, to be there for long.
They will want to make signings to strengthen the current set up and safeguard the future.
And one young midfield star reckons that Chelsea are keen to take him to their club as a long-term investment.
Red Star Belgrade midfielder, Marko Grujic is quoted as saying in The Express:
‘Nemanja Matic is a friend, he’s Serbian and he has been at Chelsea for over a year. He tells me that they want me.’
The report claims that the player is open to leaving his current club but that he wants to spend the rest of the current season at his present club.
“Right now I am at Red Star, we are top of the table and I want to win the title here.
“I don’t think that I’ll be moving in January, but there’s definitely more of a chance in June.”
The youngster has drawn interest from across Europe with some amazing displays for Red Star over the last two years. And in the last 12 months he has become something of a regular in the senior team, playing 26 times and scoring 4 goals.
He looks as if he would need to bulk up a bit for Chelsea and The Premier League but he may eventually add the creative spark and drive that sometimes seems to have been lost from The Blues mifdfield this season.
Let’s take a look at Grujic in action.
