Ander Herrera has had a roller-coaster sequence of highs and lows since joining Manchester United in 2014.
Like Juan Mata, he is a well-mannered person and an excellent professional who has got on with the job despite finding it hard to nail down a starting place in the Manchester United side.
But he has no qualms with Louis van Gaal and says that, despite him being a demanding coach, he is also a very good one:
“He’s a very demanding person, very forward and very sincere, which I value a lot.
“To everyone else he might seem a bit tough but I think he’s a good guy and I think he wants what’s best for the club.
“On a personal level, I have a very good relationship with him. I know he can look tough from outside the club, but from within, he’s the right guy to help us improve.”
The 26 year old has scored 11 goals in 41 appearances for Manchester United but is still to find the sort of consistency to make him undroppable.
More often than not he still follows a great performance with an average one. We do feel that he can make the grade at Manchester United and get his first senior cap with Spain if he continues to work hard.
