‘Stupid’: Jose sound bites, Injury update and predicted XI after Chelsea Press Conference

Back on track?

We have the feeling that, while he is still not particularly happy, Jose Mourinho has learned to lighten up a bit over the last few days.

This is, after all, just a game that we are talking about.

But his mood was a tad lighter in his press conference, Friday afternoon, ahead of the tough trip for Chelsea to Stoke on Saturday evening (Kick off 17:30 local time).

He confirmed that he hadn’t appealed against the stadium ban which has been imposed on him:

“I know the result of the appeal already. I decided to give up”, he said. “It is stupid to fight a fight you know you are going to lose.”

And his improved mood was summed up when he was asked how he would watch the game on Saturday:

“I have no plans [to watch]. Maybe I sit in the street corner with my iPad. Maybe I don’t even watch the game. Maybe, live scores? Results.”

On the injury front things are looking pretty rosy for Chelsea.

Thibaut Courtois is still out of course.

And the hitherto painfully ineffective Radamel Falcao is also sidelined.

But Branislav Ivanovic, who was pilloried by many after his recent form, is fit to return after recovering from a hamstring strain.

Whether he is selected remains to be seen.

So, with all this in mind, here is our predicted Chelsea team to play Stoke at The Britannia.
