It’s difficult to remember a time when Manchester United were quite as boring to watch.
They were more hopeless under David Moyes but even that failed tenure was regularly more entertaining than the last 4 games, which have seen one Manchester United goal and too many sideways passes to count.
It’s never been a particularly popular view with Manchester United fans but we feel that Juan Mata’s lack of speed and athleticism on the right has blunted The Reds.
Yes, he scores goals at times and rarely makes a complete fool of himself.
But, when he was needed on Tuesday against CSKA, he was completely anonymous.
Louis van Gaal isn’t scared to tinker and we feel that he may be about to fall upon an XI that will click.
We think that Louis should go with youth.
Jesse Lingard has been excellent since his surprise introduction for Manchester United and we feel that he should start on the right with Memphis on the left and Rooney at number 10 behind Anthony Martial.
Then we may see some pace and cutting edge to the attack.
Carrick was superb against Moscow and we think that he and Schneiderlin should get a game together if the Frenchman is fit to play after being sidelined for personal reasons over the last week.
With Marcos Rojo coming to the boil on the left, Louis may be about to find a winning formula.
So here is our XI for the game.
Manchester United fans: let’s have your teams
