Manchester United, along with Chelsea, are said to be tracking an exciting young midfielder from Serbia.
The Daily Mail reports:
Manchester United keep tabs on £3m-rated Red Star Belgrade midfielder Marko Grujic but could face competition from Chelsea
The report states that Manchester United sent scouts to watch the 19 year old play in the local derby last weekend, where he scored an absolute belter from 30 yards to open the scoring in a 3-0 win for his side, Red Star Belgrade.
Already 6ft 3in the Serbian has played at every youth level for his national side and is fully expected to make the leap to the full international side in the next 12 months.
He looks like the perfect modern box-to-box midfielder a la Paul Pogba. He’s big, athletic and can do the dirty work with great authority.
But what makes him such a valuable asset, and so highly sight after, is his technique which is already superb.
That attacking threat gives him a wonderful skill set and he could turn out to be an absolute bargain, with the price tag around £3m according to the report.
He’s exactly the sour to towering midfielder that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho likes to recruit and Manchester United may need to take a quick punt if they want to secure him ahead of their rivals.
Let’s take a look at him in action.
Manchester United fans: could he slot into the midfield successfully?
