We all know that Jose Mourinho loves his pacy, hard-working wingers for that famous 4-2-3-1 system.
But perhaps he feels that there is still room for improvement in his personnel.
Because latest reports suggest that he may try to bring another one into Chelsea in the winter window.
Sky Sports says:
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is targeting Sevilla’s Yevhen Konoplyanka, according to the Shakhtar Donetsk manager.
And they quote the Shaktar manager a saying:
“Mourinho is interested in Yevhen Konoplyanka,” Lucescu said. “I was at Ukraine versus Spain with Mourinho and he is interested in some players.
“Perhaps it is Yarmolenko or Teixeira, if not, then it is Konoplyanka.”
The 26 year old Ukranian has been linked to a move to England for some time and looks tailor-made for The Premier League.
He’s got natural pace, is a hard worker and doesn’t look as if he would be knocked off the ball too easily.
Chelsea will surely add to their squad in January after a shaky start to the season and perhaps Konoplyanka is the man.
He only move to Sevilla from Dnipro this summer and has hit the ground running with 3 goals in 7 games from the wide areas.
Quite why Chelsea didn’t move for him on a free in the summer is strange but they may well have felt that the addition of Pedro would complete their squad.
Let’s take a look at the Ukranian (48 caps and 11 goals) in action.
Chelsea fans: can he bring something different to the squad?
