Martial and one more forward: How Manchester United would ideally line up by the end of the window

Need for speed

Well Manchester United have made one step in the right direction as reports suggest that a deal has been done for Anthony Martial.

The exciting 19 year old is exactly the sort of player who Sir Alex Ferguson might have gone for – he’s quick, skilful and has a big future ahead of him.

He can also play in various positions in the forward line which will allow him to get a lot of minutes this season.

We have been saying for weeks that, more than anything, Manchester United need a winger for the right flank.

And while we wouldn’t be at all surprised if Martial spends some time out there this season, we also think that Manchester United must be looking to do more business for that area of the pitch before the end of the window.

Because we feel that, while Memphis and Rooney can form part of a top front line, the jury is out on Mata – especially as a right winger.

He may prove to be a top number 10 but he simply doesn’t have the legs or power to do a top job on the flank.

Manchester United need to address this as a matter of priority.

We would throw Martial straight into the attack at number 9 with Rooney in at number 10.

Then we would add a flying right winger to give this Manchester United side a genuine chance of success this season.

We think that the best, potentially gettable, forwards who can comfortably play out wide are Antoine Griezmann and Marco Reus.

Either may come if the price is right and both would add speed, penetration and finesse to the front line.

If Manchester United can get either of these guys in, Wayne Rooney will be in the goals again before long.

So here is our ideal XI come September 3rd.

Comment:Get Charlie Austin and partner him with Martial. Rooney should start from the bench.

Comment:LVG should change his formation to 4:4:2, bringing in Valencia to play at the right wing and Depay to the left while Rooney and Martial infront hunting for goals

What we need now is Charlie Austin. U should complement Martial. Martial alone cannot do it, not other striker on the bench. He is proven in the EPL.
