It is interesting that, after Gary Neville’s assertion that:
United, Chelsea and Arsenal are now all capable of taking them (Manchester City) on in the transfer market and, if a player has a straight choice between the four clubs, City will come fourth every time.’
…that the club has arguably done the best business of any club in the top four this summer.
Nicolas Otamendi is a beast and will further strengthen the back line. Delph brings energy and Raheem Sterling amazing pace to the front line.
So the idea of Manchester City further reinforcing their attack with Kevin de Bruyne is a really scary prospect.
But that seems to be inevitable now as latest media reports suggest that a deal for the 24 year old is now very close.
The Mirror reported last night:
Manchester City close on Kevin De Bruyne with £50million deal likely to be done in next 48 hours
And Sky Sports gives a similar estimation on the deal but reckons that it might not be completed until next week:
Manchester City are in advanced negotiations with Wolfsburg for the transfer of former Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, Sky Germany reports.
A deal for the 24-year-old believed to be worth around 70m euros (£50.4m) is expected to be announced on Monday.
The young Belgian is powerful, pacy, direct and a great finisher. He scored 16 goals last season from the wing and made an astonishing 27 assists for Wolfsburg.
With him on one side and the pace of Sterling on the other, Chelsea are most certainly going to have their hands full in keeping their Premier League trophy out of the hands of Manchester City this season.
Let’s take another look at the star in action.
