We like the sound of this one.

We always mainained that we had reservations about the signing of Pedro from Barcelona.

Our main reservation was that he may not have the sort of pace to really transform Manchester United’s attacks.

Instead he would be viewed as more of a stop gap style player in the mould of Ashley Young, until something better came along.

We have also always been massive fans of Southampton winger Sadio Mane – heck he’s even in the soccersweep dream team.

As we have written previously, Mane is one of the best kept secrets in The Premier League.

And The Telegraph reports this afternoon that Manchester United may be keen to sign the Senegal international as an alternative to Pedro. They say:

Manchester United launch bid for Southampton forward Sadio Mane

And Sky goes one further:

We just brought you the news that Manchester United were considering an approach for Sadio Mane, and now we can confirm that United have in fact submitted a bid to Southampton for the midfielder, according to Sky sources.

The 23 year old scored 10 goals for Southampton last season and also has an impressive 6 in 22 for Senegal, where he is also played as a winger.

He’s so fast but also has great ball control and even more confidence to strike at the heart of defences.

We would have no issues at all with Manhchester United signing Mane over Pedro.

He’s got the raw pace to trouble defenders and is the right age to have a substantial career at Manchester United.

Let’s take a look at him in action.

Manchester United fans: keen?

Comment:I didn’t really fancy pedro too from the get go as I don’t think he will bring anything that is really an upgrade on what we currently have
