Sky sources understand Chelsea’s Oriol Romeu is having a medical at Southampton today after a fee was agreed between the two clubs.
Saints hope to confirm a permanent deal for the midfielder later today.
The 23 year old had a really promising start to his Chelsea career when he first signed for the club in 2011.
He played 24 games that season and appeared 16 times in The Premier League.
But injuries, and perhaps managerial changes, forced him down the pecking order and he only appeared nine times the following season before being shipped out on loan to Valencia and then Stuttgart.
He’s a talented midfielder who could yet turn out to be a top anchor man.
But Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has perhaps seen enough and is prepared to let the lad leave.
With reports also stating today that Chelsea may lose Ramires to Juventus, you have to imagine that The Special One is lining up a top addition to his midfield before the end of the current transfer window.
We think that William Carvalho would tick the boxes for one.
