This is an interesting one for Newcastle.
It may turn out to be a shambles of a signing, or the bargain of the season.
But, either way, we think that it’s worth a punt.
Because ESPN suggests today that Newcastle are preparing to make a move for Manchester United youngster Jesse Lingard.
Newcastle are ready to step up their interest in Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard, sources have told ESPN FC.
We have see this kid play several times over the last few years.
He always seems to do really well in pre-season for United – he hit another goal in America last month – but regularly gets injured just when he is about to show what he can do.
Indeed, he started United’s first game of last season but broke down soon after kick off and wasn’t seen in the first team again.
The sense is that there is a really good footballer in there somewhere and Newcastle could be the recipients of his talent. He’s quick, dynamic and knows where the goal is. He can also play in several positions.
United legend Rio Ferdinand once said of him:
“He is a great little player. On the previous tour, he was one of our best players but it didn’t work out for him last season.
So we think that Newcastle may be on to something with a footballer who has played 11 times (2 goals) for the England U21s.
Let’s see him in action.
Newcastle fans: keen?

And we would sign an injury prone player for the club with the worst sick-bay record in the 4 divisions, I sincerely hope not.
