With so much competition for the signature of household names in modern football we are very much up for the idea of gobbling up players with great promise while they are young enough to be flying under the radar of the some of the biggest sides.
Obviously with that in mind, Newcastle have moved for a prodigious young talent, as Sky Sports reports:
Newcastle in talks with Northampton forward Ivan Toney
Northampton Town’s highly-rated teenage forward Ivan Toney is training with Newcastle with view to a permanent transfer, according to Sky sources.
It’s a no lose situation for clubs like Newcastle.
If players like Toney don’t perform or develop as quickly as expected, they can be sold with minimal financial liability.
But if they do go on to reach the levels expected they prove to be great investments.
And, even if elite clubs then come knocking, Newcastle can sell for a massive profit and invest elsewhere.
Toney looks if he could make it in The Premier League.
The pacey and adaptable forward of 19 has already played 53 times for Northampton, over the space of 3 seasons, and scored 11 goals.
He’s quite a strong lad and is full of confidence.
He’s perhaps a bit raw to expect to play for the first team straight away but, if he keeps his head down, he can make the grade at Newcastle.
Let’s see the lad in action.
Newcastle fans: keen?
