Ok, some movement in the market has been reported for Arsenal.
Sky Sports reports:
Arsenal have completed a deal for young Ajax striker Donyell Malen, the Dutch club have confirmed.
Apparently the 16 year old centre forward, who has turned out for the Holland U17s, had the chance to stay at Ajax but wanted to come straight over to Arsenal and get stuck in.
He’s right footed but can also play on the left wing and has real pace about him. Incidentally, he was born in 1999 – it won’t belong before we see Arsenal signing first team prospects who were born in this millennium. How old does that make you feel!
In other news Arsenal are said to be close to beating their rivals, Manchester City, to a deal for French youngster Ismael Bennacer.
Respected French media outlet L’equipe reckons that the youngster will choose Arsenal over City.
The midfielder, 17, played for French second division side Arles-Avignon last season and Arsenal are said to be offering the lad a 5 year deal at the club, where he can continue his development in state-of-the-art training facilities.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is traditionally a big fan of signing young talent and recently addressed the spending philosophy of his and other big clubs in The Premier League when he said:
“We want to continue to combine stronger financial resources with faith in our philosophy and policy,”
“That means we want to continue to give chances to young players and build the players from inside our club with our culture.
“Afterwards, if we can buy the exceptional players, we can compete today. But that will not be the basis of our policy.
That policy has of course yielded some great first team players over the years.
Nevertheless, Arsenal fans will be hoping for a marquee signing this summer who can improve the first team straight away.
