Arsenal: Odds tumble on World Class signing

No Way

It’s a lovely idea but we have to say that we still can’t see it happening.

Nevertheless bookmaker SkyBet has cut the odds on Karim Benzema moving to Arsenal after the private jet shenanigans caught the attention of the public earlier in the day.

To bring you up to date, Benzema Tweeted an ostensibly cryptic message about his future when he said:

Leave the past in the past

And Sky Sports consequently reported:

Karim Benzema’s cryptic private jet picture seems to have caught the attention of Sky Bet’s punters, with the French forward backed in from 7/2 to 11/10 join Arsenal.

That’s quite a shortening of the odds but represents little more than a reaction to what probably amounted to a bit of arsing abart by the Frenchman.

He would of course be a wonderful signing for Arsenal and perhaps also the final piece in the jigsaw in the quest for a first title in over a decade for the North London club.

Benzema is one of the few players to have lasted for a whole six years at Real Madrid during their Galactico era. And he’s one of these players whose future seems to be the subject of constant speculation.

But his last season at the club was arguably his best and he seems to be in his absolute pomp right now.

Would Arsene Wenger want him? Almost certainly. Would he pay the money? Probably.

But will Arsenal be able to prise Benzema away from the Spanish giant this summer? It’s unlikely, unless Rafa Benitez makes a major signing of his own first.

Let’s see the master in action.

Arsenal fans: can you win the title without a top signing up front?
