With The Community Shield just a few days away Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho will hope to have all of his ducks in place sooner rather than later.
Let’s not pretend that Chelsea are desperate for additions.
They have one of the most balanced squads in Europe and have added again this summer with the top quality of Asmir Begovic and Radamel Falcao.
But, with Filipe Luis leaving the club Chelsea will look to add another left back as soon as possible.
There has been a lot of speculation about the the potential signing of Augsburg full back Abdul Baba Rahman.
But it seems that Jose Mourinho now has a contingency plan if that deal doesn’t come off, as The Daily Mail reports:
Chelsea have spoken to Galatasaray about Brazilian left back Alex Telles.
The 22-year-old is seen a cheaper replacement for Filipe Luis than Abdul Baba Rahman at Augsburg.
The 22 year old isn’t particularly well known and hasn’t yet played for Brazil at any level.
But he’s got pace and the sort of sense of adventure which Chelsea fullbacks seem always to possess.
He has only been at Galatasaray in Turkey for a season and a half since signing from Brazilian side Gremio in January 2014.
But he has been almost ever present in the side since then with 57 games under his belt and two goals scored.
Let’s take a look at the lad in action.
