Arsenal are said to be on the lookout for another striker this summer and, according to the latest reports, their search may be about to come to a successful conclusion.
The Telegraph writes:
‘Arsene Wenger to clinch £8.5m deal for Juventus striker Fernando Llorente’
We very much like the cut of this lad’s jib.
He made his name at Athletic Bilbao where he was a brilliant number 9, scoring 118 in 333 games between 2005-2013.
It’s a decent, if not prolific return.
But this lad offers so much more than just goals.
He’s a better target man than Olivier Giroud with a wonderful first touch and great overall technique which helps him to hold off defenders and bring others into play.
He moved to Juventus a couple of seasons ago and, despite not always getting in the team ahead of Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente, he has still scored at a decent rate with 27 in 90 games for last year’s beaten Champions League finalists.
He also has 23 caps for a golden generation Spain side, with 7 goals to his name.
We think that he would be a very low risk purchase for Arsenal and a more consistent goalscorer than the likes of Danny Welbeck.
Let’s take a look at the lad in action.
Arsenal fans: would Llorente represent a good buy or would you rather Arsene Wenger held out to make a signing who could have a bigger impact on the first team?
