Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho looks as if he will try to add to his defence before the end of the window.
With Filipe Luis seemingly off and the centre of the defence beginning to peel, we expect some serious investment in this area before the end of next month.
But there has also been a steady trickle of speculation this summer about Chelsea’s potential desire for another midfielder.
They have good depth there already with the likes of Fabregas, Matic, Ramires and Obi Mikel.
But we say that there is seldom smoke without fire in the market and perhaps Chelsea will have another man for the engine room by September 3rd.
Reports over the weekend suggest that Chelsea are running the rule over a Chilean International.
The Telegraph writes:
‘Internacional midfielder Charles Aranguiz on Jose Mourinho’s radar’
The 26 year old has played 36 times for a very strong Chile side and scored 6 goals in the process.
He only moved to Brazilian club Internacional at the start of last season and has been a revelation, scoring 11 goals in 55 games for the club.
And that form may have translated into interest from Europe.
He is also the sort of adaptable player that Jose Mourinho likes and can play in several positions.
Aranguiz can play as an anchor man, further forward in the midfield, or even on the right flank.
Let’s take a look at the gem in action.
Chelsea fans: could you see Aranguiz making the grade at Stamford Bridge?
