Manchester United: Good Riddance Di Maria. Time to sign the German genius

For a man who worked in a coal pit to help his parents as a kid, you would have hoped that Angel di Maria was made of sterner stuff.

But an attempted burglary on his luxury house in Cheshire was seemingly all it took to persuade him and his wife that they wanted to move elsewhere. Why is life so hard for these multi-millionaire footballers? Why is life so unfair?

Let’s just remember what Di Maria said on joining the club:

“I am absolutely delighted to be joining Manchester United. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in Spain and there were a lot of clubs interested in me, but United is the only club that I would have left Real Madrid for.

Really Angel? Well why are you off to PSG this summer then?

The wife has possibly had a big say in this one. But Di Maria has disappointed and disenchanted thousands, nay millions, of Manchester United fans around the world.

Note to PSG fans: don’t believe a word that comes out of his diamond encrusted face.

So, who next? Well we would go for a player who isn’t going to struggle to acclimatise in the same way. A player of equal, perhaps more guile – certainly a more efficient footballer who gives the ball away far less – and someone with his best years ahead of him.

Marco Reus would be a legend at Manchester United. His signature will be extremely difficult to acquire as he has just signed a new contract and is reportedly wanted by Real Madrid, among others.

But, Manchester United need a superstar more than they need the money and there appear to be few of these about right now.

But Reus can be that man. He can play on either wing or in the hole. He can beat a man and play a pinpoint cross or pass.

What’s more he scores loads of goals – 9 in 25 for Germany, 53 in 119 for Dortmund and 99 in 272 club ages in total.

This 26 year old is special and he wouldn’t be asking for a transfer away from United within 12 months.

So we think that Manchester United should put this sorry Di Maria saga behind them and bring in the German master.

Let’s see him in action.

Di Maria has not disappointed or upset me. As one of the few who warned against signing him he has done exactly what I thought he would for a season and now he is running away. Typical, but as the saying goes, we can’t call him two-faced because if he was he wouldn’t wear the one he has on now.

I have been watching Reus via Eurosport for about 4 years now and he is most definitely the best attacking midfielder around!
Should United make a bid and be successful, they would be equal to Barca, Real or Bayern as this guy would make such a difference.
The possibility of Reus leaving BVB any time soon though seeems highly unlikely but stranger things have happened!
