Manchester United: How did the new signings Rate against San Jose?

Good Progress

This was much a more high tempo and coherent effort from Manchester Untied on the second leg of their pre-season tour of America.

And with Barcelona and PSG up next it needed to be.

Morgan Schneiderlin

Started alongside Carrick and played with quiet efficiency. He adds bite to the midfield and rarely gives the ball away cheaply.

Memphis Depay

He was quiet again and struggled to get into the game. But his first goal for Manchester United settled him down – a poachers finish after a slightly under hit back pass from the San Jose defender.

He played a delightful flick as the half – and his involvement in the game – came to an end, which completely flummoxed the opposition. The goal did him no end of good.

Matteo Darmian

A really industrious half in which he bombed down the wing to good effect and showed his pace on several occasions.

Gave the ball away more than once however.

Bastian Schweinsteiger

He got a rollocking for his performance against San Jose by boss LvG. But he still did enough to show his potential value to the team.

What a player this lad could be for Manchester United. He makes football look effortless.

But he is of course putting in lots of effort. He covered the ground beautifully and his positioning, at the base of the midfield, was again superb.

Even though this is just his second appearance for Manchester United – he came on for the second half – the whole Manchester United team looks for him.

His passing is superb off both feet and he is composure personified.

For me the new signings have done quite well, they just played 2 matches l believe they will improve with more games. My happiness is that we have plenty of back ups in the team now, most especially in the middle of the pack. I think Memphis Depay would do better as a winger instead of playing him as a center forward. The reason is that he has the pace to cut in from the wings and he can as well score goals from there.
