Chelsea head coach Jose Mourinho is a transfer maestro and his squad looks pretty balanced already.
But with departures come new opportunities in the market.
And, with Filipe Luis moving back to La Liga, and his old club Atletico Madrid, you have to feel as if Chelsea will push on and bring another left back into the club this summer.
With Branislav Ivanovic still playing out of his skin at right back and Cesar Azpilicueta with many miles left in the tank, Chelsea may well go for a younger talent who can grow into the team over time.
Step forward Abdul Baba Rahman.
The London Evening Standard writes:
Chelsea are pushing to conclude a £14m deal with Augsburg for left back Abdul Baba Rahman after finally selling Filipe Luis back to Atletico Madrid.
The 21 year old has been making waves in the senior game for some time.
The Ghana left back is way ahead of schedule in his career, having played 11 times already for the national team.
He moved to FC Augsburg in 2014 and played 31 times in the league for the German side.
He has impressed, not only with his pace and tireless running, but also his composure for one so young and his ability to get forward and put in deadly crosses.
He looks as close to a sure thing as a 21 year old gets and we think that Jose very much likes the cut of his jib for Chelsea.
Let’s take a look at the lad in action.
