Are Manchester United really about to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo? The Latest

CR7 - A beautiful freak of nature.

Shock on?

The rumour mills went into overdrive this week as Manchester United legend Paddy Crerand told viewers on MUTV that Manchester United fans were in for a shock in over the next ten days.

He may or may not have inside knowledge on this one. But combined with the revelation this week from the agent of Iker Casillas about the possibility of Cristiano Ronaldo leaving Real Madrid, who said:

“Will anyone speak out and ask Florentino why Cristiano has sold his image rights to Peter Lim?

“That’s not normal; it suggests that Cristiano is planning to leave.”

…we are left once more to ponder whether the prodigal son is about to return to Manchester United.

GOD

GOD

On the face of it Ronaldo looks set to stay at Real Madrid. He banged in an incredible 61 goals last season for his club and it would seem like a huge risk on the part of Rafa Benitez to sell his star man at the beginning of his tenure.

But, as we all know, Manchester United are close to Ronaldo’s heart and if the player decided that he wanted a different challenge then there would ultimately be little that Madrid could do.

We also know that Manchester United are going big in the transfer market these days. Since Juan Mata joined the club in January 2014 Manchester United have spent over £200m in the market and look nowhere near their limit yet.

Add to this the recent comments of Louis van Gaal who, when asked about new signings, said,

we have Chicharito [Hernandez] and maybe Wilson and maybe there comes a surprise. It’s a process.

…and things begin to look rather exciting.

A few weeks ago the story about Ronaldo to PSG hit the press and perhaps there was some truth in the part of the story from The Telegraph which suggested that:

French club want Ronaldo and Real Madrid would sell – but Ibrahimovic and Uefa rules are barriers

Of course it’s all pure speculation at this point. But Manchester United’s recent spending policy would suggest that if the lad were available it’s a deal that they would be more than prepared to do. And with the potential departure of Angel di Maria bringing in £50m plus, that cash would go a long way to covering the cost of such a move.

We wait with bated breath to see who Louis’s ‘surprise’ could be.

Pfft! No chance! He probably sold his image rights because hes going nowhere and the CR7 brand isn’t shifting the same volumes of merch it once did. If he was about to move clubs where his transfer would generate a lot of new fan interest he wouldn’t give up his image rights.
