Bombshell: Superstar tells Manchester United that he is minded to leave the club

Van Gaal: A man of character

Off?

This one is becoming central to Manchester Untied’s plans this summer.

The club has done some great business already but this will be seriously undermined should Angel di Maria leave the club. Because, try as they might, Manchester United will genuinely struggle to sign a player of this calibre again any time soon.

But The Guardian reports today that, although Louis van Gaal wants the player to stay, Di Maria himself wants out of the club:

At a meeting a few days ago Van Gaal told Di María that he believed the 27-year-old should remain for at least another season in English football following last term’s disappointing showing.

Yet Di María has become unsettled in Manchester and the Argentinian has informed Van Gaal that he and his wife are minded to leave.

The Argentinian started his Manchester United career well but tailed off after his family fell victim to an attempted burglary at his Cheshire home. After that his form waned badly and he spent most of the last three months of the season on the bench.

But, on form, he is precisely the sort of player that Manchester United needs. Their attacking has become somewhat laboured and slow over the last couple of years and, at his best, Di Maria offers the sort of pace and penetration that could once more give United a fearsome front line.

We think that Di Maria and Memphis Depay would be the perfect providers for Wayne Rooney in a 4-3-3 next season. But, without Di Maria, the team once more looks imbalanced. While Juan Mata was decent over the last year he simply doesn’t have the pace or power of Di Maria.

Manchester United fans: is it time to let Angel go?

Di Maria will not be missed and I don’t think that LVG is losing sleep over his pending departure – he had a torrid time last season, cost a ton of money and really would prefer to be anywhere but Old Trafford.

Di Maria does not suit LVG’s passing game and seldom tracks back when he loses the ball, which by the way is often. His style is hit or miss and with the purchase of Depay, form of Mata and Young and the ongoing development of Januzaj, I say let him go.

If United can 40-45 million for this guy they need to bite off the hand of the interested party..

Angel di Maria should not leave this summer I strongly believe that LVG doesn’t have the instrument last season to make him somebody he used to be so since manager LVG have now I think he should be given one more season to prove himself at man utd.I will only tell LVG what ever may be his plans he should think very well to avoid mistakes, whishin you good luck LVG.
