206 goals in 380 games: But do Manchester United have any chance with this dream transfer?

If you believe what you read in the papers Manchester United’s search for a new top level centre forward is well and truly on.

While we think that Wayne Rooney is more than capable of leading the line to superb effect next season there is a growing swell of speculation that Manchester United will bring another seasoned pro in for the new campaign – a goal machine who will expect to start every game.

That idea generates many questions about the formation and line up come season start. But with captain Rooney surely the first name on the team sheet, perhaps we will see him back in the hole of a 4-2-3-1 come autumn.

That’s another discourse – the initial question is, who will Manchester United bring in? Cavani? Benteke? Or perhaps the battering ram that is Robert Lewandwoski.

I have no idea what this guy eats for breakfast. But he seems to get more mountainous by the week. And what a player. 206 club goals in 380 games and a highly respectable 26 in 68 for a decent, if not top level, Poland side.

There has been talk of a move to Manchester United and, while not optimistic of a deal, his agent didn’t completely slam the door shut as he speculated about the price of the 26 year old flat track football bully.

Manchester United would have to fork out over £35m if they wanted to prise striker Robert Lewandowski away from Bayern Munich, his agent has warned ..warned Sky Sports

Kucharski told Polish TV: “I think it would have to be a very high offer, definitely higher than £35m for Bayern to consider selling.

“With a player of Robert’s class, the truth is that not a lot of work is required because really there are only two directions in which he could go in the future, England or Spain, and only with Bayern Munich’s acceptance.”

Having lost their iconic number 7 to Manchester United at the weekend you would have thought that selling Lewandowksi would be tantamount to the highly contentious quick fire deals that saw he and Mario Goetze transfer from Dortmund two years ago.

But while a deal seems unlikely at this point, this guy would be an absolute beast in The Premier League – you could argue that he’s the perfect striker for the English top flight – so very strong but also with replete with finesse and a deft first touch – he really is a lovely player to watch and he would take the English game by storm at Manchester United.

While a deal for Cavani or Benteke is perhaps more likely, Lewandowski is arguably the best number 9 that United could buy.

Let’s see him breaking goal posts. Manchester United fans: dream signing?
