We think that, whichever other targets Newcastle can realistically sign this summer, this will prove to be the best deal of the lot.
Lest we forget, this is a player who won The Dutch Player of The Year award, AHEAD of Manchester United’s new £30m sensation Memphis Depay.
At just 24 he’s already the caption of PSV and has great stats of 56 goals and 23 assists in just 152 games for the Dutch club. Those figures have got better year on year with 18 of those goals coming in the 42 games he played at club level last season.
And this is not even a striker that we are talking about. The 5ft 9in Dutchman is seen more as an attacking midfielder who can rove around the park and play in various positions. He’s an explosive player and lovely to watch but also very productive.
Great business by Newcastle and one up for Mr. Mclaren. Let’s see the lad in action. Newcastle fans: Captaincy material?
