Arsenal

Is this Arsenal’s marquee sumer signing?

After years of austerity measures, while the stadium was built, we have seen a definite tactic from Arsene Wenger over the last couple of years of signing quality over quantity.

Instead of bringing in a several £10m players, he’s gone for Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, who both came for the thick end of £40m.

Few Arsenal fans would argue with the policy when we are talking about such exciting players. And many will hope that the trend continues this summer.

So who might Arsenal pluck this time around? For our money they need striker from the top drawer and Marca reported yesterday that Arsenal are to make a 60m Euro bid for Gonzalo Higuain.

He has been linked to the club for the last couple of summers but has remained at Napoli, where he has been a big success, scoring 53 in 102 games.

But there is a definite sense that he would be open to a move and, after a summer of average form at The Copa America he may feel that a change is as good as a rest. Marca says:

Arsenal are close to sealing a 60m euros deal for Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuaín.

We believe that a world class striker would make Arsenal an immeasurably better side. They rarely play badly and win but with a top poacher they could grind out these sorts of results, which are so crucial to title successes.

Let’s see Higuain in action. Arsenal fans: the perfect marque summer signing?
