While not everyone was full of praise for Nani during his time at the club, he nevertheless proved to be an important cog in the machine during Manchester United’s most successful period ever.
They say that your squad is only as strong as your bench and while Nani rarely found the consistency of a top Manchester United player, he was there or thereabouts during some important times for United.
But it’s finally time to say farewell to the 28 year as he touched down in Turkey ahead of his medical with Fenerbahce. The fans gave him a riotous reception and the player said:
‘I’ve seen all these fans coming out for me and I was really happy. I want to show them my best football. I always do the best that I can.’
And Sky confirmed this afternoon:
Fenerbahce have completed the signing of Manchester United winger Nani.
They are getting a player who has 86 appearances for Portugal and several major honours to his name. With a little more time and space in the Turkish league Nani should get the opportunity to showcase his obvious talent. And, before too long, he could once more be providing the ammo for Robin van Persie.
