If Sergio Ramos leaves Real Madrid, most of us expect them to bowl in with a huge offer for another A-list star.
In fact, they don’t really sign hidden gems do they?
But recent reports have suggested that Real Madrid are looking at a lesser known player to join the squad at centre back this summer. And the Valencia man, ShkodranMustafi, says he is flattered by the reported interest.
“Right now I’m on holiday,”
“But who wouldn’t be happy if Madrid were interested in you.
“There’s no player who wouldn’t be happy.
Mustafi only signed for Valencia a year ago, after two years at Sampdoria in Serie A. He has been solid and dependable at both clubs and was a regular starter last season for Valencia, with 36 appearances and a notable 4 goals to his name.
The 6ft and change 23 year old has played 8 times for Germany and was in the triumphant World Cup squad that took Brazil by storm last year.
In a sign of his adaptability as a defender, he started Germany’s game against Algeria at right back but unfortunately tore a muscle late in the game and this put an end to his World Cup.
He looks like a great prospect and may quickly fill the shoes of a legend if, as still seems unlikely, Ramos does move on.
Let’s see the lad in action. Real Madrid fans: can he do the job at centre back next season?
